This Privacy Policy explains how ChapterNotes (“we”, “us”) collects and uses information when you use our website chapternotes.in and our learning app at app.chapternotes.in (and our mobile apps), together the “Service”.
Who we are
ChapterNotes provides free, chapter-wise study notes and a gamified practice app for students preparing for exams such as NEET and CBSE boards. For any privacy question, contact us at chapternotes.in@gmail.com.
Information we collect
- Account information — when you sign in to the app with Google, we receive your name, email address, and Google profile photo from Google. We do not receive your Google password.
- Learning data — your answers, quiz results, concept mastery, streak, XP, goals, and progress, stored against your account so the Service can personalise your practice.
- Feedback — any messages or question reports you choose to send us.
- Usage analytics — first-party events (e.g. screens viewed, quiz started/completed) and aggregate web analytics, used to understand and improve the Service. On the website we also store learning progress locally in your browser (e.g.
cn_progress); no account is required to read website notes. - Technical data — standard server logs (e.g. IP address, device/browser type, timestamps) for security and reliability.
How we use information
- To provide and personalise the learning experience (diagnostics, spaced-repetition reviews, progress and score tracking).
- To operate, secure, debug and improve the Service.
- To respond to your feedback and support requests.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising profiles.
Service providers we use
We share data only with infrastructure providers who process it on our behalf:
- Supabase — database, authentication and storage of your account and learning data.
- Google — Sign-in (OAuth).
- Vercel — app hosting and aggregate web analytics.
- Resend — sending us internal notification emails (e.g. when you submit feedback).
- Our website is hosted on Hostinger (WordPress).
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account and data — in the app, open Home → Delete account. This permanently deletes your account and all associated learning data (profile, progress, mastery, answers). Analytics and feedback records are retained only in anonymised form (no longer linked to you). You can also email chapternotes.in@gmail.com to request deletion.
- Access or correction — email us to access or correct your personal information.
- You can stop using Google Sign-in at any time and revoke our access from your Google Account security settings.
Data retention
We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, account and learning data are removed promptly; backups are cycled out in the ordinary course.
Children
The Service is intended for secondary-school and exam-preparation students. If you are a minor under the age of majority in your country, please use the Service with the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect more personal information than is needed to run the Service.
Security
We use reputable providers and industry-standard measures (encrypted transport, access controls, row-level security) to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice.
