NEET 2025 marks vs rank — quick reference

Below is the official NEET 2025 marks-to-rank mapping (NTA-released anchor points). The 2025 paper was tougher than 2024 — top score was 686 (no perfect 720), so the same rank now needs fewer marks than in 2024.

How this rank predictor works

The model uses official NTA score-vs-rank data from NEET 2025 (most recent) and NEET 2024, with log-linear interpolation to estimate AIR for any score. Three things drive the output:

  • Two-year blend. Default mode averages NEET 2025 and 2024 curves (60/40 weight, favouring most recent). NEET 2026 difficulty is unknown, so a blend is more honest than either year alone.
  • Category adjustment. Category ranks (OBC-NCL, SC, ST, EWS) are derived from official NEET 2023 category-wise tables — typical ratios used: OBC ≈ 0.40 × AIR, SC ≈ 0.08 × AIR, ST ≈ 0.04 × AIR, EWS ≈ 0.10 × AIR.
  • Confidence band. Year-over-year variance for the same score is typically ±10–15%. The displayed range reflects that uncertainty — your actual rank can land anywhere in it.
Why a range, not a single number? NEET 2026’s exact difficulty + candidate count are unknown until result day. A predictor that gives you a single sharp rank is overpromising. We give you a range you can plan with.

FAQ

How accurate is this NEET rank predictor?

Anchor points are from official NTA data. Within the 500–700 score range, predictions are typically within ±10–15% of actual rank. Below 400, the curve flattens and a 10-mark difference can shift rank by 20,000+ — so use those numbers as ballpark, not exact.

What rank do I need for government MBBS in India?

For all-India quota (15% seats), under-1,500 AIR is needed for top central institutes (AIIMS Delhi, JIPMER), under-10,000 for safe state government MBBS via AIQ. State quota (85% seats) is more lenient — many state governments admit up to 50,000–80,000 AIR depending on category and state. SC/ST/OBC reservations widen this further.

Is NEET 2026 going to be tougher like 2025 or easier like 2024?

NEET 2024 had 17 candidates tied at 720 (perfect score) due to a paper-leak controversy. NEET 2025 was deliberately toughened — top score was 686, no perfect 720. NEET 2026 difficulty is still uncertain. A safe assumption: expect difficulty similar to 2025, with a top score in the 680–700 range. Use the “Tougher paper” scenario for a realistic worst case.

Why do reserved category candidates get a different rank?

Every NEET candidate gets one All India Rank (AIR). In addition, reserved category candidates also get a separate Category Rank (e.g., SC rank, ST rank), which is used for reserved seats. For example, a candidate scoring 600 with AIR ~1,400 might have an SC category rank of ~110 — far better than their AIR — making them eligible for SC-quota seats they’d never reach via AIR alone.

Does this predictor account for state quota?

Not directly. Cutoffs vary widely by state — Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra are typically more competitive; Bihar, UP, MP have slightly more lenient state quotas. The “domicile state” field is used to flag your state but does not change the AIR prediction. State counselling cutoffs are a separate (year-specific) lookup.

Will this work for NEET 2025 result analysis?

Yes — if you’ve already given NEET 2025 and want to verify your expected rank, select the “Tougher paper (like 2025)” scenario for the closest match to actual NEET 2025 trends.
